Soundings: Thought Over Time

An exploration of the geological metaphors of language

S/core

performance by Helen Thomas (deconstructed oboe) and Michael Beiert (electronics)

Soundings: S/core was a sound performance exploring the constituent parts of the  oboe - a wood and reed instrument. In an approach reminiscent of the avant garde music of the 1960s, the oboe in its parts, evoked associations with the landscape:  the reed - a calling bird of prey, the keys - rain upon a roof, ...

S/core was performed during the Researching and Applying Metaphor International Conference at University of Lancaster, in the Peter Scott Gallery.
