Silent Pool, Shere, Surrey
(artist's simulation)
Watertable (2007-) was devised to show the fluctuations in the aquifer feeding Silent Pool. The project development was halted when invasive plants were identified in the pool and it was closed to the public.
Farming fertilisers take 30 years to seep down to our aquifers requiring drinking water in the Surrey Hills, south England to be diluted with less polluted water from other regions. Natural springs are as susceptible to pollution as every other part of our planet.
